The Festive Countdown: Plan Navratri-to-Diwali Leave Now, Not in November, with VegaHQ Coverage-Aware Leave Planning
Beat the festive absence wave with VegaHQ's coverage-aware leave planning for Diwali. Ensure smooth operations this season.
Your Team Won't Ask for Diwali Leave in November. They Are Already Planning It.
Diwali is a few weeks away, and somewhere in your office a group chat is already deciding who takes which week off. This piece shows how HR can spot the festive absence wave early, protect team coverage and keep everyone feeling fairly treated.
01Why the festive rush breaks ordinary leave policies
Most leave rules were written for an average Tuesday. They check balance, not context. So five people in one team get approved for the same fortnight because each request looked fine alone, and the manager notices only when the roster has a hole in it. The problem is never one request. It is the pile-up.
02Set coverage rules before the requests arrive
In VegaHQ you can define a minimum presence per team or shift, for example at least seven in ten people on duty. When a new request would break that line, the approver sees a live coverage warning on the approval screen, along with who else is already off. You can also mark peak days as limited-approval so the conversation happens in September, not on the eve of the holiday.
03One festive calendar does not fit every location
A Jaipur office, a Kolkata outlet and a Pune warehouse do not celebrate on the same days. VegaHQ lets you attach a regional holiday calendar to each location, so local festivals, optional holidays and floating days show up correctly for each employee, and balances stay in sync.
04Cover the gaps with people, not panic
Once the heatmap shows thin weeks, you can line up swaps, shift changes or seasonal staff while there is still time. Employees get clear answers on their phones, managers stop playing referee, and HR stops rebuilding spreadsheets every time someone changes plans.
05My take
If you have under 50 people in one location, a shared calendar and a firm cut-off date may be enough this year. Once you cross a few locations or shifts, spreadsheets lose to the festive rush, and a coverage-aware tool pays for itself in a single season. Open the leave window this week, publish the rules, and let the data show you the thin weeks. To see it on your own team structure, visit VegaHQ.in.
